Chief Greg Westermier began his career in March of 1992 as a recruit Fire Fighter. He has been the recipient of the Steven W. Begley distinguished service award and the Medal of Meritorious Service. He has also served as Team Leader for the Edmond Technical Rescue Team, Rescue Manager for Oklahoma Taskforce One, committee chairman for technical rescue equipment for Oklahoma Homeland Security, Edmond Firefighters Association President, and numerous committees within the Edmond Fire Department. Chief Westermier holds a bachelor's degree in Emergency Responder Administration and has been an Instructor for Oklahoma State Fire Service Training. He was also a responder to the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building Bombing, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, and the devastating tornados in Moore, OK, in 1999 and again in 2013. On March 12th of 2015, Chief Westermier was promoted to Battalion Chief. He is married and has 4 children.
When asked about the job, he stated,
"This profession is not merely a job; it is a calling. Our goal is to serve others unselfishly. This is accomplished by meeting the needs of our citizens and providing for the safety of our fellow firefighters."
