Chief Fitzgerald is a third-generation firefighter. He started his career with the Edmond Fire Department as a firefighter in 1993. During his career, he has worked as a firefighter, apparatus operator, fire prevention officer, and assistant training officer until his promotion to Fire Marshal in 2015. Chief Fitzgerald holds degrees in Municipal Fire Protection and Criminal Justice as well as a graduate of the Oklahoma Executive Fire Officer Leadership Program. He is responsible for directing, supervising, and participating in commercial business inspections, fire code enforcement, public fire education, and fire investigations for origin and cause.
Since fire prevention is everyone’s responsibility, Chief Fitzgerald has partnered with community organizations, businesses, schools, and other city departments to keep Edmond a fire-safe community.
