Upcoming Tree Opportunities

***THIS PAGE IS FROM THE SUMER 2021 TREE MAIL NEWSLETTER. ALL EVENTS LISTED ARE PAST***

After the many tree losses experienced through the ice storm and freeze this past year, many Edmond residents are looking forward to this autumn to add new trees back into their landscapes. The approaching fall season brings with it a variety of free tree opportunities to keep an eye out for through City of Edmond – see below for an overview. Urban Forestry has an email list that will notify subscribers of tree opportunities whenever they become available. Sign up to be notified whenever these programs come up.

Foster-A-Tree

Edmond residents can sign up to have a tree planted in the street right-of-way of their yard through this popular program, through the commitment to provide supplemental water for it until it becomes established. Registration will open in late September to early October – find more information and the registration form (once available) at EdmondOK.com/Foster.

Energy Saving Trees

Another popular tree distribution program offered by Edmond Electric (in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation), Edmond Electric customers can register for a free 3 gallon tree through an online module that helps participants to select a planting location where optimal tree benefits will be experienced. Registration for this program will open in mid-September. Sign up to receive updates from the Tree Opportunities email list, or watch for a City of Edmond news release.

Edmond Tree Grants

K-12 public schools and neighborhoods can submit proposals to receive trees for planting within the areas that they manage through this program that was implemented in 2019. One component of this program includes a tree planting event with participation from members of the organization’s community. Applications will open in September for this program. Find out more at Edmond Tree Grants.
