The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division is responsible for the oversight, training, and certification for Edmond Fire Department (EFD) members. Under the direction of the Assistant Chief of EMS with permission of the Medical Director, Edmond maintains Advanced Life Support (ALS) status at all 5 stations.

The Edmond Fire Department answers more than 8900 calls for service per year. In many cases, calls for service are for medical emergencies. At a minimum, each firefighter is trained to the EMT-Basic level with several certified as Paramedics.

In 2006 the Edmond Fire Department began upgrading our frontline apparatus to Advanced Life Support First Response. Each apparatus is staffed with at least one Paramedic who can administer advanced level patient care in a timely manner.

Our Motto:

“Be Nice, Do no harm, and Practice good medicine.”
